Greensboro’s Mustard Seed Community Health Clinic is preparing for a major expansion after securing a $100,000 grant from the Black Investments in Greensboro (BIG) Equity Fund which is a permanent endowment managed by the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro and this funding will support the clinic’s move into a new permanent facility that will nearly triple its current space and will allow for significant growth in services.

The new building will house medical exam rooms as well as a laboratory along with classroom areas, an industrial kitchen, and offices that will bring all operations together under one roof and clinic leaders say that the long anticipated expansion will help them better respond to the rising number of patients in need of both primary as well as behavioral healthcare especially among Greensboro residents who are uninsured or underinsured.

Mustard Seed Community Health has played an integral role in providing a safety net for some of Greensboro’s most medically underserved populations, and the addition of classroom and teaching areas reflects its broader vision that will not only help it to deliver healthcare but also to build community health awareness, wellness education, and empowerment initiatives.

The grant represents more than financial support as it highlights the growing role of the BIG Equity Fund in creating lasting change across Greensboro, and it was established as the city’s first permanent endowment dedicated to advancing equity. The fund addresses disparities in healthcare, digital access, and small business development, and with the Mustard Seed grant, the fund continues to deliver on its mission of addressing critical needs while promoting long-term opportunities for populations that have historically faced barriers.

As plans move forward, Mustard Seed’s new building is expected to become a cornerstone resource in Greensboro by providing not only immediate healthcare solutions but also long-term community health strategies and the clinic leaders view the expansion as a pivotal milestone that ensures sustainability and growth for years to come.
